Community Strength Development Foundation
CSDF has been originated in 2002 with the request by a team of marginalized women. As a Drop-in-Centre for sex workers and drug addicted people living in underprivileged communities at Peliyagoda, a suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Original vision of CSDF was contributed for establishing a virtuous society for social justice through community empowerment, networking with other social groups.
In 2007 CSDF expanded its activities in 14 districts of Sri Lanka. With 07 partner organizations for Prevention of HIV/AIDS on sex work, in association with the National STD/AIDS Control Program and UN agencies in Sri Lanka, with the heavy responsibility for HIV prevention among risk groups. CSDF’s main focus is on marginalized women in Sri Lanka with the vision of empowering them and their families by providing different kinds of supports, assistants and servicers to uplift their social lives.
